A Walk Through History:

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse March 2024
This marks the start of eclipse season. This eclipse will have Libra themes.
  • Roman Roots: Our word "March" comes from the Roman "Martius," named after Mars, the god of war. In the early Roman calendar, March was actually the first month of the year, symbolizing new beginnings and the resumption of military campaigns after winter.

  • Folklore and Sayings: March is associated with a number of interesting proverbs and traditions. The most famous saying, "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb," reflects the month's unpredictable weather, often starting with blustery storms and transitioning to calmer, spring-like conditions by the end. It is also connected to the astrological constellations Leo and Aires. Per Catherine Boekman for Almanac.com, "The constellation Leo, the lion, rises in the east at the beginning of March. Thus, the month 'comes in like a lion,' while Aries, the ram, sets in the west at the end of the month, and hence, the month 'will go out like a lamb.'"

Folkloric Celebrations:

March folklore and traditionsS
  • Spring Equinox/Ostara: On March 19th, the Northern Hemisphere experiences the Spring equinox, marking the official start of spring. It is a time when day and night are equal. This is also recognized in Pagan traditions as Ostara, a celebration of rebirth and renewal of life after the long, hard, cold winter rest.

  • The Mystical March Hare: In some European folklore, the March Hare is a symbol of madness and chaos. This mythical creature, often depicted as a rabbit acting erratically due to the "madness of March," reflects the unpredictable nature of the month's weather and the potential for sudden changes.

  • The Old Woman and Her Cows: Slavic folklore tells the tale of the Old Woman and Her Cows, who represent winter and spring, respectively. In March, these two figures are said to engage in a battle, with the Old Woman bringing occasional snowstorms while the Cows slowly gain ground, heralding the arrival of warmer weather.

  • Spring Cleaning and Banishing Winter: In many cultures, March is seen as a time for thorough cleaning and purification. This practice, often associated with spring cleaning traditions, symbolizes the act of letting go of the old and making way for the new, mirroring the natural world's transition from winter to spring (death and rebirth).

𝒫𝒾𝓈𝒸𝑒𝓈/𝒜𝒾𝓇𝑒𝓈:

Even though March starts with Pisces (Neptune) energy, it is actually Martius (or Mars the planet of Aires) that historically rules March. Pisces and Aires are very different energies, but in my experience, I find them very compatible and forgiving of each other (I have a soft spot for Pisces so I could be speaking through a rose colored lens... much how a Pisces sees the world). Pisces (the end of the zodiac) will soften the assertive, bold, and fiery energy of Aires, while Aires (the beginning of the zodiac) lends strength, courage, and spark to a Pisces. Together, these two seem to mesh in a cohesive manner... and we will see this cohesiveness in our connection to each other through challenges and circumstances that may push us past our ego and more into the heart space to merge and unite together (or at least I hope we do). Mars is the planet of action, and I do feel March will have its share ( a one card for pull for March reveals the 𝕎𝕙𝕖𝕖𝕝 𝕠𝕗 𝔽𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕦𝕟𝕖 -- I hope to share more in depth insight on this soon).

Because the Wheel is Jupiter energy... the themes we see play out might be on a larger scale.

Ready or not, things are going to start rapidly changing now. For better, for worse, and everything in between. Fate and outside forces turn the wheel so it is up to us to navigate the winds of change that March brings. ✨March and the months following will be filled with both madness and magic.✨

The Wheel of Fortune suggests there might not necessarily be a whole lot of stability around us in the weeks ahead because everything is in motion (people and weather will be unstable too). We must learn to roll with the punches, appreciate the highs, and know the lows cannot last forever. Trying to control the outcome of anything under these conditions is not recommended. You can try to steer the wheel, but you might not have much control over where it takes you.

I would anticipate changes with our leadership, economy, and more instability in the world this month. Given the Neptune influence of Pisces, we may find that there are water and drug/medicine/chemical/poison related themes as well as religion and spirituality. Natural resources may come into play as well (with the wheel I would expect prices rising). Medicine might translate to illness or health related themes. There may be a lot of confusion, mental health issues, and if struggling with addiction issues: note that they do not bode well under this influence.

Because the Wheel is Jupiter energy... the themes we see play out might be on a larger scale. Meaning we are not talking local but national or global effects/themes that affect us in a big way (for example water themes could be ocean related, illness could be another pandemic, leader issues could be global, medicine could be something that affects many many people (tainted drugs or medications)

✨Note that eclipse season starts this month with a full moon lunar eclipse in Libra... partnerships/relationship themes will surround this!! Libra is the Justice card in Tarot... truth, morality, Natural Law - cause and effect. Expect a lot of truth regarding politics, scandals, relationships, and wrong doings on a large scale to surface. Personally we may find that relationships suddenly break down or we discover something about friends, partners, or mates. I will try to do a more extensive Tarotscope soon, with posts on (March) and its winds of change, and tryring to find center in these physical, metaphorical, celestial, and spiritual storms we find ourselves in.

Take time to appreciate the subtle yet beautiful signs of spring that begin to emerge as March unfolds. Appreciate the moments. This will be a month of that promises new beginnings, but this will be a month that ushers in a lot of change and will require resilience. Because the wheel forever turns, it can bring change through both fortunate and unfortunate circumstances and we must be prepared for both. There can be magic found within the madness.
